Opportunities
in the Information Systems Profession
Computerized information systems are established in every
type of organization, in banks, insurance companies, department
store chains, automobile and durable goods manufacturers,
hospitals, universities, and government agencies, to name
a few. (See Program Information)
Information
systems professionals develop and support computerized
information systems that keep all types of organizations
running effectively and efficiently. The demand for information
systems professionals is growing and will continue to do
so for the foreseeable future since new computer and telecommunications
technologies are developing rapidly. These new technologies
have opened up career paths that were not in existence
even a decade ago.
Career
Paths
An information systems professional may work as a programmer
analyst, systems analyst, telecommunications analyst, and

officer, or vice president for information systems and/or
technology. (See Courses: Part A, Part B)
