JAMES H. LOWRY
James H. Lowry joined The Boston Consulting Group in November
2000. He heads BCG’s workforce diversity, ethnic marketing,
and minority business development consulting practice efforts.
As president of its Chicago operation, he has been credited for
his productive involvement in the North American Black Diversity
Initiative, a program that fosters the development of African
American management consultant professionals on college campuses
and within the company. Previous to his position with BCG, he
was President and CEO of his own firm, James H. Lowry & Associates,
from 1975-2000. Prior to starting JHLA, he worked at a leading
consulting firm in the area of Urban Affairs Development. In
addition, he has served as host of two nationally syndicated
TV programs: Inside Bedford-Stuyvesant and Minority
Business Development. Lowry was also an adjunct professor
of diversity at Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg
School of Management, where he developed a lauded education program
for minority business professionals in 2002. A native Chicagoan,
Lowry earned his BA in political science at Grinnell College
and his MPA from the University of Pittsburgh. He also attended
Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development.
