GEORGE S. WILLIE
George S. Willie has over 20 years of varied public accounting
experience. His area of expertise includes significant engagements
on internal control reviews for the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. He
has led major healthcare regulatory compliance engagements for
the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia government, Department
of Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
(formerly Health Care Finance Administration). He is a member
of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA), a member of the Board of Examiners – CPA
Examination and AICPA’s Benevolent Fund. He also serves
on the U.S. Government Accountability Office Advisory Council
on Government Auditing Standards. In 2005, Mr. Willie was
named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners by CPA
Magazine. Accounting Today has previously given
him a similar recognition. His reputation is widely known and
he has testified before various regulatory and legislative bodies
on many significant accounting and auditing issues. He has been
a frequent speaker at numerous forums on the challenges affecting
the accounting profession. A former assistant professor
of accounting at Howard University and the University of the
District of Columbia, Mr. Willie holds a Bachelor of Business
Administration (BBA) degree (magna cum laude) in accounting
from Howard University and a Masters of Business Administration
(MBA) in finance from The American University.
