ADMISSIONS CRITERIA AND APPLICATION MATERIALS
The Howard University School of Business MBA program is open to all
persons holding a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent, from a
nationally or regionally accredited college or university, located
in the United States or abroad. Application materials and all supporting
documents become the confidential property of the MBA Admissions
Office and cannot be returned to the applicant. Applications are
not reviewed until all materials are received in the MBA Admissions
Office. The application must be typed and all attachments are to
be word-processed or typed on letter-sized paper. All essays should
be double-spaced. Please follow the instructions on length of each
attachment and label each page with your name and social security
number. A complete admission file must contain the following documents:

A non-refundable application fee of US $65 (Certified check
or money order). This fee is non-waivable.

Graduate Management Admissions Test. A competitive score of
the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) to be reported
directly to Howard University MBA Program (code 5297) by Educational
Testing Service (ETS). Test scores are valid for five years from
the date taken. Complete information on the GMAT, registration,
fees and testing sites can be obtained via e-mail: gmat@ets.org
or GMAT Website: www.gmat.org.

Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate course
work (including any transfer coursework or course work completed
while enrolled in a study-abroad program). Transcripts must be
submitted in sealed envelopes signed by appropriate university
officials. Foreign educational credentials must be accompanied
by a complete English translation provided by a known translation
service.

Three “Evaluation and Recommendation” forms to
be completed by at least one member of academia and one supervisor.
In addition, candidates are encouraged to submit letters of recommendation.
Please request each referee to place evaluation form or letter
of recommendation in a sealed envelope, sign the back flap, and
return it to you. All evaluation forms and letters of recommendation
must be included in your application package.

Personal Statement describing the uniqueness of your character,
abilities, issues of diversity, academic history, community service
activities, and professional experience. Additional, the Statement
should discuss your interest in Howard University MBA Program
(HUMBA) and how completing the HUMBA will facilitate realizing
your dreams and aspirations. The essay should be no more than
three typed, double spaced page in length.

Verification of a minimum of one year of significant professional
and/or managerial experience gained after completion of the undergraduate
degree must be provided.

Advanced College Algebra (Calculus preferred) is required at
the undergraduate level before admission to the program.

Upon admission to the MBA program, applicant must pay the University
enrollment fee.
DEADLINE DATES FOR RECEIPT OF DOCUMENTS

Fall Semester: Deadline for submission of completed application,
application fee, and supporting documents, April 1, **(Full-
time, part-time evening, and on-line applicants).

Spring Semester: Deadline for submission of completed application,
application fee, and supporting documents, November 1,**
(Part-time evening and on-line applicants only).
** International students are particularly encouraged to submit
applications and all relevant documents by February 1, **
to allow sufficient time to obtain proper documents of eligibility
and visas.
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
Applicants applying to the MBA program must have an equivalent of
the four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
University transcripts must be sent directly from institutions abroad
to the Office of Graduate Programs. Documents must be in English.
Course syllabi or catalogs may also be required. All documents must
bear the same name that appears on the admissions application unless
an official document is submitted indicating a change of name.
If your native language is not English, you must demonstrate a level
of competence in English by a minimum score of 550 for the standard
version or a minimum score of 213 on the computerized version of
the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). TOEFL scores are
valid for two years from the date taken. Scores must be reported
directly to the Howard University MBA Program (code 5297). Applicants
with an undergraduate and/or master’s degree from an American
University are exempted from the TOEFL requirement. Complete information

Upon admission to the MBA program, international applicants must
pay the University enrollment fee and apply for the Certificate of
Eligibility of Non-Immigrant (F-1) Student Status, (I-20 form). The
I-20 form will be approved and issued upon receipt of the completed
Statement of Financial Resources Form, which provides evidence that
the student has adequate financial resources to pay for MBA educational
expenses.
