Dr. Gwynette Lacy, Professor and Chair
of the Department of Management, joined the department
in 1982, after serving as administrator, researcher, and
trainer at Howard University. Among
her administrative positions were: Interim Associate Provost,
Senior Academic Administrator at the Office of the Vice President
for Academic Affairs, and Special Assistant for Administration
to the President. She also served as Director of the
Institute for Labor-Management Relations at Howard University
School of Business, where she directed a graduate program
designed to train professionals in the field of labor relations. Lacy
has also served as Consultant, Private Practice, Program
Manager, Consultant at the U.S. Department of Agriculture
Graduate School, Washington, DC, Employee Development Specialist,
Consultant at Maritime Administrative, U.S. Department of
Commerce, Washington DC, Management Analyst at the Department
of Administration, State Office Building, Madison, Wisconsin,
and Auditor at the U.S. General Accounting Office, Washington,
DC. Her primary research areas of interest include: Strategic
Planning for Diversity Programs and/or Committee, Strategic
Management for Dental School Chair Persons, The Use of MBO
in Educational Institutions, The Use of MBO to Evaluate Faculty
and Administrators in Academic Environment, Women in Management:
Opportunities, Barriers, and Training Needs, Women in
Management: Opportunities and Challenges, Managing Workforce
Diversity, How to Develop Strategies for Using Time Effectively
in Your Business, and Management for Entrepreneurial Success. She
has taught: Management and Supervision, Organizational
Behavior, Labor-Management Relations, Human Resources Management,
and Organizational Development and Change. Lacy is
a member of several professional organizations including: Society
for the Advancement of Management, Association of Management,
Industrial Relations Research Association, Golden Key National
Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Omicron
Delta Epsilon International Honor Society, Association of
Social and Behavioral Scientists, Delta Sigma Pi Business
Fraternity, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Lacy holds
a PhD with a major in Human Resources Management and a minor
in Collective Bargaining, and an MBA in Management from the
University of Wisconsin (Madison), and a BA (hons.) in Economics
and Business Administration from Lincoln University, PA.
