Dr. Philemon Oyewole joined the department of Marketing
in 1975, after serving as
Consultant at the World Bank, Washington, DC, Lecturer at the University of Ife,
Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and Statistical Officer at the National Population Bureau,
Lagos, Nigeria. His primary research areas of interest include: Services
Marketing, International Marketing, and Consumer Satisfaction. He has received
several awards and distinctions including:
Distinguished Faculty Author Award (2004, 2003, 2002, 2000), from the President
of Howard University; School o f Business Summer Research Award (2001), Howard
University; “Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing” (2001), Best
Paper of the Year Award, 2001; French Government Ph.D. Scholarship Award tenable
in France (1987), Regional Center for University Studies and Research, National
Ministry of Education, France; Faculty Award for best graduating
student in the Faculty of Social Sciences for the 1980/81 academic
session, University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University);
Faculty Merit Award (2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 1999, 1998), Howard
University; Government Bursary Award for BSc. degree (1979),
Oyo State of Nigeria; First Prize for academic and character
excellence (1977), Federal Office of Statistics Training School,
Ibadan; and Best Final Year Student Prizes in Mathematics,
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Bible Knowledge (1972), Awe
High School, Awe. He has taught: Principles of
Marketing, Retailing, Marketing Research, and Services Marketing. Oyewole
holds a Ph.D. and an M.Phil in Business Administration with
a concentration in Marketing from the University of Aix-Marseille
III, France, and an MBA, and BSc (first class hons.) from the
University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Nigeria.
