Micah Crump is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Crump completed his Ph.D. and MBA at Morgan State University, and his undergraduate degree at Coppin State University in Management Science. His doctoral dissertation centered on Black entrepreneurship, with a focus on increasing its success rates.
Dr. Crump has published a book chapter and his papers have appeared in the Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, Review of Black Political Economy, the Management Case Study Journal, and International Journal of Case Studies in Management. He has also presented papers at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, the U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Conference, the UIC/AMA Symposium on Marketing and Entrepreneurship, the Eastern Academy of Management Meeting, the Management Doctoral Student Consortium, and the NASA/NOAA Education and Science Forum: Research and Education Advancements in Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences.
Dr. Crump was a Ronald E. McNair scholar, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Three of his awards include: a Certificate of Excellence in recognition of outstanding achievement in Management Science; the Graduating Class of 2000 Faculty Award; and the Coppin State 1999 Ronald E. McNair First Place Outstanding Academic Year Research Project Award. In addition to starting and running several businesses, he worked at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services federal agency as an information technology investment analyst. After completing his master’s studies, he also ran a private consulting firm. And, he was the keynote speaker for Coppin State University’s 2005 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies at the Baltimore City Arena.
Dr. Crump has taught at Coppin State University and Morgan State University courses that include: entrepreneurship, introduction to business and entrepreneurial economics, organizational behavior, human relations, principles of management, and human resource management. He holds memberships with the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society, the U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and the Academy of Management.
