A native of Seattle, Professor Leister joined the Howard Marketing Faculty in the autumn semester, 2008.  He holds a BA in Accounting and Marketing, as well as an MBA in Marketing and Transportation from The University of Washington [Seattle], and a Ph.D. from The University of Oregon [Eugene], in Marketing and Regulatory Policy.

He was the leading authority in logistics, supply chain management, and multimodal integration for the federal Department of Transportation, as a Member of the Senior Executive Service for over twenty years. He was Associate Director of International Negotiations, for the U.S. Civil Aeronautics Board for several years prior to its folding into the Department of Transportation on December 31, 1984.

Professor Leister has travelled the world on official U.S. Government business, and led multidisciplinary teams for the U.S. Department of State in a variety of international fora, including United Nations’ organizations, international airline pricing disputes, including anti-trust issues.  Dr. Leister has testified before Congress on behalf of both the Departments of State and Transportation.
